528,419. Sewing. BROWN, R. May 6, 1939, No. 13574. Convention date, May 7, 1938. [Class 112] A needle-threader comprises a member or plate 4 having a groove 7 adapted to receive the eyed end of a needle N, a threading tongue 11 supported above the groove, and eye-aligning means at one side of the groove. In the form shown the eye-aligning means comprises a cup 20 having at its bottom a recess shaped to receive the eye end of the needle in such a position that its minor dimension is parallel to the groove 7 ; the wall of the cup is cut at one point to allow the needle, when correctly aligned to be moved into the groove 7 and then along the groove to pass over the threading tongue 11, which has a notch in which the thread is laid. Instead of the cup 20 a recess of suitable shape may be formed in the plate 4. The tongue 11 may be fixed to the plate 4 or, as shown, carried by a removable mounting 24 engaging guides and a stop on the plate 4. The plate 4 has tangs 5 by which it can be fixed to the end of a reel of thread, a tongue 17 by means of which the thread-end can be held and the thread severed, and a tab 15 for holding a needle in the bore of the reel.
