632,886. Road vehicles. HAWKES, P. L. Nov. 3, 1947, Nos. 29330/47 and 24607/48. [Class 108 (i)] A vehicle 1 includes a retractable floorsection 6 capable of being lowered relative to the body or chassis, the road-wheels 3 adjacent the floor section being independently mounted and the floor-section 6 is in the form of a box-like well which extends to one end of the vehicle, the end of the well being open to coincide with a door opening in the end wall of the vehicle. The floor-section 6 may be raised by a hand lever 13 which rotates bell-cranks 8 the upper ends of which engage a flange 9 on the floor-section 6. The section 6 may also be raised and lowered hydraulically, pneumatically or mechanically.
