Abstract
632,740. Hand knitting needles. CROMPTON, G. Aug. 1, 1947, Nos. 20922 and 27955. [Class 74 (ii)] A hand knitting needle is provided with a counting device which may be integral with the needle or may be formed on a tube adapted to slide on the needle. As described, two members 9, 10 are rotatably mounted on the needle or tube and are pressed into abutment with a fixed central member 8 by springs 13 held by stops 11, 12. The faces of the members held in abutment are of ratchet formation to enable a series of relative positions between the rotatable members and the free members to be obtained. The members 9, 10 are suitably graduated to register with a datum-line on the member 8. In the arrangement wherein the members are mounted on a tube, one end of the tube is slotted and formed with a tapered thread on which a collet is screwed to compress the tube so that it grips the needle shank.
