Abstract

A fuel for jet-propulsion comprises nitromethane or a mixture of nitromethane and nitroethane. The fuel may also contain promoters of ignition or combustion such as methyl nitrate, ethyl nitrate or methyl oxide. Fluid oxidizing agents such as oxygen may be injected simultaneously with the fuel into the combustion chamber. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 refers to jet-propulsion fuels comprising other liquid nitroparaffins, particularly such nitroparaffins containing at least 42.6 per cent by weight of oxygen. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
