Abstract

631,995. Endless-belt conveyers. BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. Sept. 10, 1947, No. 24890. Convention date, Dec. 26, 1946. [Class 78 (i)] In depositing mechanism for dough-pieces wherein a train of pans is moved past a filling station on a continuously moving conveyer and stop means is provided for halting each pan in position to receive a dough-piece, the stop is released by the next succeeding dough-piece and held by control means delaying its return to pan halting position until the filled pan is moving at conveyer speed. The stop means comprises a pair of fingers 1 engaging the ends of the pans which are longer than the conveyer slats which continuously slide underneath the pans until they are released. The releasing means comprises either an electric switch 16, Fig. 2, which causes a main valve 12 to be opened by means of an electromagnet, or a directly opened valve 12a, Fig. 5, causing compressed air to be fed through two pipes 3 and 14 to a delay action valve 13. The dough-piece is rolled along a table above the pan conveyer by means of a belt conveyer above, and on passing a spring loaded lever 2 depresses it against spring pressure, Fig. 2, for a time long enough to put a shot of air through valve 13 and a pipe 15 to a cylinder 4 sufficient to push its piston 5 to the end of its travel. Piston 5 is connected to a crank 8 on a shaft 9 which it moves against the force of a spring 6, a further pair of cranks 11 on shaft 9 raising two bars 10 the other ends of which are supported by two further cranks 11 so that the fingers 1 are depressed. Valve 13, Fig. 4, comprises a cylinder 13k in which a piston 13f is urged upwardly by a spring 13l, the piston stem having two valve members 13a and 13c. When a shot of air is put through pipes 3 and 14 the piston is depressed, closing valve 13c and opening valve 13a to allow air to pass from pipe 3 through aperture 13b to pipe 15. After the dough piece has passed lever 2 and the air supply from valve 12 or 12a is cut off, air leaks from space 13k through an adjustable valve 13g until the rise of piston 13f opens valve 13c allowing the air in cylinder 4 to escape through passages 13d and 13e. Thus fingers 1 are depressed for a suitable length of time and then released after the filled pan has picked up conveyer speed ready to snap up into the space preceeding the next pan.
