[Class 47 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] The main valve 60, Fig. 1, controlling the flow of pressure fluid, e.g. for fire-extinguishing, from a container 16 to an outlet 109, is opened against the container pressure by movement of a fluid-pressure member, e.g. a piston 122, and a check valve 124 loosely mounted on the valveactuating spindle 120 prevents the main valve being directly subjected to the pressure in the outlet. A spring-loaded auxiliary valve 78, actuated manually or automatically, controls the flow of fluid from the container through a passage 136 having a non-return valve 138 to the chamber above the piston 122 to open the main valve. A frangible disc 48 held in position by an anti-recoil plug 52 prevents dangerous pressure developing in the container. Several containers and control valves may be connected to a common outlet conduit, and on discharge of the fluid from any container the rise of the pressure in this conduit acts back through the outlets 109, passages 142 and non- return valves 143 on the pistons of the undischarged containers, and thus opens their main valves.
