Abstract

631,420. Power shovels. KOEHRING CO. July 24, 1947, No. 19860. Convention date, Jan. 6, 1941. [Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group XXX] A power shovel comprising a body 10, boom 11 and bucket or like excavating means 13 is rotatably supported by a roller path and gear 17 on an elevated interchangeable under-frame adapted to straddle railway wagons. The under-frame comprises a deck 14, in the form of a casting or built up from structural steel, the opposite sides of which are removably connected, as by means of nuts and threaded members 24, 25, to the upper ends of a pair of relatively tall, spaced, upwardly extending frame-members 15 having endless tracks 21, wheels or other rolling supports removably mounted on their lower ends. The rolling supports may be driven by a centre pin 18, a transverse shaft 20, and chains 23 or vertical shafts in oil-containing enclosures juxtaposed to the members 15.
