Abstract
631,311. Luminescent indicating lamps. PARTRIDGE, N. G. Nov. 16, 1945, No. 30745. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XL (c)] A radio receiver has a tuning arrangement comprising a fluorescent glow lamp and the envelope carries one or more scales which indicate the tuning of the receiver. The lamp 1 comprises a tubular glass part 3 of circular, square or polygonal cross-sections with metal end caps 4 through which pass sealed metal tubes serving as pivots and, in conjunction with supports 6, as supply terminals for the lamp. A plurality of scales 7, 8 are marked on the exterior of the envelope 3 the interior of which is coated with fluorescent material. The envelope may contain argon and mercury. The indicating device is mounted beneath an opening in the receiver cabinet which allows only one set of indications to be seen at a time, and the lamp is coupled to the wave change switch by means of a cord, chain or geared drive. A screening can may surround the lamp. The scales may be differently coloured, using several luminescent materials or coloured lacquers for the envelope.
