631,256. Loading plastic explosives into containers. NITROGLYCERIN AKTIEBOLAGET. Feb. 3, 1947, No. 3150. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1946. [Class 9 (i)] Refers to machines in which plastic explosive is expelled by plunger through extrusion nozzles into containers as in U.S.A. Specification 1,245,528, and consists in providing cutting means in or adjacent the nozzles such as a string or strings rotatable in a plane perpendicular to the extruded material about an axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the nozzles. A nozzle 1 is surrounded by a retractable, rotatable sleeve 2 carrying diametrically placed cross-wires or strings 3. Explosive is fed through the nozzle into a container until it reaches the required level, the feed is then stopped and the sleeve rotated, the strings 3 thereby cutting through the explosive. Instead of a separate sleeve, the nozzle may be rotatably mounted and carry the cross-wires. An apparatus with a plurality of nozzles may have all the cutting members simultaneously rotated by a toothed wheel geared to the individual supporting members. The cross-wires may be replaced by a single diametrically-placed wire or by three parallel wires one of which is placed diametrically.
