Abstract

Silicone resins are obtained from organodihalogenosilanes of the general formula X[SiR2O]nSiR2X, wherein X represents a halogen atom, R represents a methyl, ethyl or propyl group, and n is a whole number. Specification 542,655 is referred to.ALSO:Siloxane derivatives of the general formula X[SiR2O]nSiR2X, wherein X represents a halogen atom, R represents a methyl ethyl or propyl group and n is a whole number, are prepared by partially hydrolysing an organohalogenosilane of the formula R2SiX2, wherein R and X have the above significance, by slowly adding a solution in water in an inert organic liquid to a solution of said halogenosilane in a second inert organic liquid in the relative of one mol. of organohalogenosilane to less than one mol. of water, the said organic liquids being solvents for each other, for the reactants, and for the hydrolysis products to maintain a one-phase system during the course of the reaction. In examples the preparation of a number of methylchlorosiloxanes falling within the above general formula is described. Specification 542,655 is referred to.
