[Class 29] A refrigerator door comprises an outer panel 10 having an inwardly-extending flange 12 to which is rigidly secured a frame 14 on which the inner panel 38 is slidably secured by slidable clip members 28 and a resilient gasket 42 to allow the inner panel to expand or contract under varying temperature and humidity conditions. The space between the panels is filled with insulating material 56. The rectangular frame 14 is welded at its outer edge td the flange 12 and the inner panel, which may be of fibrous material impregnated with a phenolic condensation resin, has its edge portions lying adjacent to the body portion 16 of the frame and held in place by inwardly-turned projections 34 of the elongated clip 28. Tabs 30 struck up from the clip 28 pass through holes 24 in the frame and engage the under side of the frame 14. The holes 24 are large enough to permit the clip 28 to be slid towards the adjacent edge of the door so that the projections 34 release the inner panel 38. To hold the clip in securing position a rubber locking strip 42 is inserted between projections 36 on the clip and the flange 12, grooves in the locking strip gripping the projections 36 and a projecting portion of the flange 12. A balloon gasket 48 integral with the locking strip forms the seal for the door. The slidable clips 28 may extend along all four edges of the door or along the two edges only, the inner panel and the gasket being secured along the other two edges by clips welded to the frame 14.
