[Class 132 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A toy comprises a helical coil spring made of spring stock having such a torsional strength as to produce a stiffness of the coil which is small as compared to its weight and gravitational force and gives the coil a low natural frequency of 10 to 100 cycles per minute, the turns in their solid height resting upon each other without compression, whereby on bending the coil into a generally semi-circular form (Fig. 3) to b ing the two ends alongside each other at different levels, turns above the end at the higher level travel by gravitational force to the end at the lower level in an entertaining manner. The spring stock is of rectangular or oval cross-section and its crosssectional width 17, Fig. 2, is 1.1 to 10 times its cross-sectional height 18, the outside diameter of the coil being between 4 and 100 times the crosssectional width of the stock. The solid height of the coil is ¢ to 5 times the outside diameter of the coil. The coil will " walk " down an inclined plane, Fig. 6, or a set of steps, Fig. 7, having once been bent into the general semi-circular form. Alternatively, the coil will "walk" continuously on an inclined endless belt 39, Fig. 8, driven uphill at a suitable speed, or on an inclined disc 44, Fig. 9, driven at a suitable speed.
