Abstract

358,792. Practising golf &c. WYLD, W., 19, Harboard Road, Waterloo, Liverpool. Dec. 4, 1930, No. 36540. [Class 132 (ii).] A captive ball appliance for practising golf or other games comprises a coil of open formation having means for securing it to the ground or other surface and a ball tether adapted to ride along the turns of the coil when the ball is struck. As shown, the coil is of conoidal form and is secured to a central ground rod 4 bearing a graduated scale 15 of distances. The graduations may be made on the coil instead of on the rod. The ball 6 is connected to the coil by a flexible tether 7 'incorporating a shock absorber 10 and a detachable spring clip or hook 8. When the ball is struck the hook 8 travels up the coil, and the probable distance of the drive is indicated on the scale 15 by the height to which the hook rises.
