Abstract

460,860. Toys. WHEATER, N. Sept. 13, 1935, No. 25459. [Class 132 (iii)] A toy having a waddling movement when drawn along by a string comprises a flat wooden body a with freely pivoted legs b, the undersurface of the feet of which are curved at h about the axles c of the legs and at j about axes in the vertical plane through the axles of the legs when these hang freely on the toy being lifted up in normal position, and inclined thereto. The axles c are held against rotation in the body a by being formed with central keys. Loose washers d are provided on the axles c and the ends of the axles are bored out and a headed stud e driven into each end. The swing of the legs is limited by ledges g on the legs engaging the undersurface of the body. In the construction shown in Fig. 5, the body a is supported by two legs b constructed as described above and by a button m. The stride of the legs of the toy can be varied by varying the line of intersection of the curved surfaces h and j.
