630,293. Tunnel kilns. FERRO ENAMEL CORPORATION. May 2, 1947, No. 11909. Convention date, June 13, 1946. [Class 51 (ii)] In a tunnel kiln the structure of which comprises a ware entrance, a preheating section and a high temperature section in serial relation, the side walls in the preheating section are spaced closer together at the ware entrance than at the end adjacent the high temperature section. As shown in Fig. 1, the preheating section P includes a transition section T wider than the section P but narrower than the burning section B, burner ports 17, 18, being provided in the sections B, T, respectively. In a modification, Fig. 3, the transition section has diverging walls.
