Abstract
630,167. Confining dust on generation. DALLOW, LAMBERT, & CO., Ltd., and FANTON, E. J May 3, 1947, No. 11965 [Class 8(ii)] A polishing-machine dust-extractor hood for use with mops of different diameters is mounted so as to swivel in its entirety about a single horizontal axis offset and parallel to the machine shaft, and to be positively retained in an adjusted position. As shown, a hood 1 for mops M, M<SP>1</SP> of differing diameters comprises closed sides 3, a forward extension 20 and a back 4 to which is secured a convex strip 7 whereby the hood pivots about an axis a formed by an angle strip 8 secured to the top of a pedestal 2. The hood bottom 9 is arcuate and coaxial with the axis and has ratchet teeth 32 engaging the top front edge 33 of a dust collecting drawer 29 to effect hood adjustment. Air-borne dust from the mop M or M<SP>1</SP> passes at 12 between the forward end of the arcuate bottom 9 and a back plate 10 to a lint trap 25 and thence to a suction duct 38: Heavy particles deposited in the extension 20 gravitate to the drawer 29.
