Abstract

630,039. Bobbins &c. AMERICAN PAPER TUBE CO. June 16, 1947, No. 15837. Convention date, July 26, 1946. [Class 120 (iii)] A bobbin &c. for supporting yarn &c. is constructed of a tube 2 of fibrous material such as paper, compressed pulp &c. made in cyindrical form or slightly tapered longitudinally, the lower end of said tube being swelled outwardly to form a frustoconical portion 5. A metal annulus 4 is placed around this frustoconical portion so that it frictionally grips the tube and then a head 3 of thermoplastic or thermosetting resin is formed around the base of the tube by a moulding or dipping &c. process, such that the annulus is embedded therein. The upper end of the tube is preferably flanged inwardly at 8 and plastic material applied thereto to form a ferrule 7. Specifications 606,426 and 606,677 are referred to.
