Abstract
629,960. Heat-transfer apparatus. CRITTALL & CO., Ltd., R., and BESTRE, A. V. April 17, 1947, No. 10204. [Classes 29 and 64(ii)] In heat-transfer apparatus wherein two or more pipes for the circulation of heating or cooling fluid are located between a pair of plates and are connected in parallel to the mains for the fluid supply, one or more of the pipes is or are physically attached to one of the plates and the remaining pipe or pipes is or are physically attached to the other plate. In the form shown, two pipes 1, 5, are located between a pair of plates 2, 6 the pipe 1 being welded or otherwise attached to the plate 2 and the pipe 5 being similarly attached to the plate 6. When the two plates are brought together as shown, to form a hollow panel, each pipe is held in contact also with the plate to which it is not physically attached. Each pipe may comprise a sinuous or zigzag coil, the loops of one coil being embraced by the loops of another coil (Fig. 3). The rate of heat transfer to or from either side of the panel may be controlled by regulating the supply of fluid through the pipes. The panel may be used as a radiator, or to constitute the walls, shelves or other structural elements in a hot cupboard or oven or in a cooling chamber or refrigerator.
