[Class 52 (ii)] A chair for use in medical practice comprising a seat frame, a back rest pivoted thereto and adjustably tiltable about said seat frame, the chair being mounted rotatably and tiltably upon a column adapted for vertical movement in a base all as described in Specification 629,398 is provided with a frame pivoted to the front of the seat frame and carrying a leg rest and a foot rest which are adjustable in varying positions. On the front of the seat frame a rockable shaft 133 is mounted on which is mounted a rockable sleeve 134 to the ends of which are keyed a pair of spaced arms 135 interconnected by a crossbar 136 forming a hinged frame on which the leg and foot rests are supported. The arms 135 are provided with abutments 137 adapted to abut against the underside of the seat frame in the position of the hinged frame shown in Fig. 9. Keyed to the ends of the shaft 133 are arms 138 one end of each of which is linked by a link 140 to an arm 142 on the arm rest trunnion so that movement of the arm rests is transmitted to the hinged frame of the leg and foot-rests. The opposite ends of the arms 138 are pointed as at 143 each to engage a plunger 146 mounted in each of the hinged arms 135. This plunger' 146 may be withdrawn from engagement with the end 143 of the arm 138 by means of a lever 149 having a cam engagement with the abutting face of the arm 135 so that the arms 135 of the leg and foot rests may be moved independently of the movement of the arm rests. On the lower ends of the arms 135 a shaft 152 is provided on which the foot rest is pivoted. The foot rest 155 comprises lower and upper sections 171, 173, Fig. 11, interconnected for parallel motion by pairs of crossed links 176, 177 pivoted centrally at 178 and respectively to the upper and lower sections 173, 171. The upper section 173 may be adjusted in height relatively to the lower section by the engagement of a notch 187 on the links 177 with one or other of a series of detents 188, 189 on the lower section 171. The foot rest is provided with spaced rearwardly extending arms 156, Fig. 9, having studs &c. 157 adapted to engage in notches 158 in the lower ends of spaced links 159 pivoted to the seat frame at 160. Latches 166 are provided for releasably securing the studs 157 in the notches 158 so that if desired the foot rest may be folded up against the arms 135. A leg rest 195 is pivoted at 197 to arms 198 having slots 199 engaging studs 201 on the arms 135. The lower ends of the arms 198 are arcuate as shown at 200 and are adapted to rotate and slide on similar ribs 202 on the arms 135 or to be locked to the ribs 202 by means of a notched portion 203 on the arcuate ends 200. The leg rest may be positioned as shown in Fig 9 or elevated into the position shown in Fig. 6 where it rests on the elevated upper section of the foot rest. When the arms 135 are swung upwardly the leg and foot rests may assume positions in line with the seat. Specifications 629,345, 629,400 and 629,401 are also referred to.
