Abstract

628,895. Reaping machines. TRIGGS, W. W. (Toledo Stamping & Manufacturing Co.). May 5, 1947, No. 12109. [Class 6(iii)] A reaping machine finger is composed of three metal stampings riveted together, and comprises a body member 1 having a hollow toe 5, a ledger-plate support 3, having lugs 21 which locate the support within the toe, and a ledger plate 2 which is located at a predetermined position on the support. The toe 5 is extended to form a lip 53 and is joined by wings 11 and 12 and concave portions 13 and 14 to a flat plate 7 which is bolted to the cutter bar by a bolt passing through a flanged hole 9. The ledger-plate support 3 comprises a flat plate 20 carrying the lugs 21 bent over to define a conical surface. The rear and of the plate includes a lug 29 forming a location for a slot 17 in the ledger-plate. Channel portions 22 and 23 and a groove 24 fit over the wings 11, 12 and the portions 13, 14 on the body member 1. The vertical rear face 25, which abuts the cutter bar, carries lugs 27, 28 engageable in slots 55, 56 in the body 1. The tongue 16, on the ledger-plate, fits between the lugs 21 on the support. The three members are held together by a rivet passing through the aligned holes 18, 57 and 30.
