Abstract

628,344. Radio receiving sets. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BELL, A. E. July 10, 1947, No. 18274. [Class 40 (v)] In a radio receiver of the type designed to work on at least two frequency ranges, and incorporating a frame aerial system, on the higher frequency range, the frame aerial can be tuned to resonance by a tuning condenser, and on the lower frequency range the frame aerial is shunted by a second condenser, to form a circuit resonant at a frequency higher than the maximum frequency of this range, and is connected in series with a loading coil to form a circuit tunable to resonance by the tuning condenser throughout the low-frequency range. As shown, when the switch 3 is on the medium wave position 4 the coil 8 is short-circuited and the frame aerial 1 and tuning condenser 5 are connected in parallel across the input of the receiver. On the long wave position 7 the coil 8 is connected in series with the parallel combination of the frame aerial 1 and condenser 10, this circuit in parallel with tuning condenser 5 being connected across the input.
