Abstract
628,128. Agricultural implements. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd. (International Harvester Co.). Sept. 12, 1946, No. 27416. [Classes 6(i) and 6(iii)] [Also in Group XXIX] Hydraulic control gear for operating an implement connected to a tractor comprises a piston and cylinder device on the tractor connected by a flexible conduit to a similar device, on the implement, the piston and cylinder devices being readily detachable without breaking liquid - carrying conduits. A cylinder 120 is pivotally connected to a bracket 118 on a tractor and contains a piston 121, the rod 122 of which is connected to an arm 92 of a power-operating device. The cylinder 120 is connected by a flexible conduit 126 to a cylinder 127 pivotally connected to a bracket 148 on a harvester thresher and which contains a piston 149, the rod 150 of which is connected at 151 to the controlled harvester part 136. A second piston and cylinder device operated from a second power-operating device controls a reel 141. Operation of the parts 136, 141 in one direction is by hydraulic power and in the other by gravity. In a modified construction double-acting piston and cylinder devices are employed and actuation of the implement is by hydraulic power in both directions. In a further modification a single-acting device may be spring returned. The power-operating devices are controlled by levers 114. Each poweroperating device comprises a cylinder 84 supplied with hydraulic fluid through a pipe 93 from a pump. The arm 92 is pivoted on a shaft 90 and connected to the piston rod 87 and to a valve-actuating follower member 109 having two parallel slots 107 connected together by a diagonal slot. A follower 104 slidable on a rod 103 normally engages in the diagonal slot but is moved by means of links 112, 113 and the lever 114 into a slot 107 and operates the inlet and exhaust valves of the cylinder 84 through a rocker arm 99. The piston carries with it the member 109. and the follower 104 returns to its neutral position in the diagonal slot at the end of the desired stroke. Applications of the device to two types of ploughs are described.
