Abstract
627,023. Vehicle undercarriages. DEHN, S. G. (Perfection Steel Body Co.). July 19, 1946, No. 21668. [Class 108 (ii)] A vehicle undercarriage includes front and rear axles 1, 2 a pair of sills 6 transverse to the axles and fixedly mounted thereon and brackets 7 connecting the axles and sills, each bracket having a plate section extending transversely across the top of one axle parallel and connected to one sill, and depending from the plate section a pair of brace wings one on either side of the axle extending laterally therefrom and fixed thereto. The brace wings may be either plane or approximately right angular. The axles are of channel cross-section having outwardly turned flanges 4. The front axle 2 carries stub axles 12 with steering arms 18 connected by a track rod 19 which is secured to a hitch 20 pivoted to the axle. As shown in Fig. 5 the wing braces 8 are plane and extend from the bracket 7 down the side walls of the axle to the flanges 4. As shown in Figs. 2 and 8 the wing braces 24 are approximately rightangular having one flange parallel and secured to the bracket 7 and another parallel to and secured to the side walls of the axle.
