Abstract

626,013. Screw fastenings. CUSS, J. F. May 21, 1947, No. 13695. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXII] Fastening means for doors, covers &c. comprise two conical members carried by the parts to be secured, one of the members being of steeper angle than the other and having at its inner end a threaded aperture to take the threaded end of a screw carried by the other member, the latter member having at its outer edge a peripheral conical face co-operating with a similar conical face on the outer part of the member of steeper angle or on the part to which this latter member is secured. The member a is attached to the inner side a<SP>1</SP> of, for example, an aircraft strut, and the member b is secured to the door or cover b<SP>1</SP>. The member a is of conical form, the narrower part being threaded to take a screw c carried by the member b, which is recessed to take the head of the screw. A circlip d prevents detachment of the screw, and preferably a coil spring, of opposite hand to the screw thread, is interposed under the screw head. The spigot member b is conical in form and has a peripheral conical face b<SP>2</SP> adapted to co-operate with a similar conical face in the member a or in the plate a<SP>1</SP>. When the door or cover is curved, the conical co-operating faces may be made of shallower angle.
