625,871. Stoppers. BOADWAY, O. E. Jan. 27, 1947, No. 2494. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1946. [Class 125(iii)] A closure for collapsable tubes, bottles, cans and like containers comprises a threaded neck (which may be the neck of the container or an adapter neck to fit thereon) provided with an outwardly extending annular locking bead, a cap threaded to co-operate with the threaded neck and provided with an inwardly extending annular locking bead, the outer diameter of the bead on the neck being greater than the inner diameter of the bead on the cap, the two beads co-operating to prevent removal of the cap but permitting rotary movement thereof. As shown, a captive cap 14 screws onto an adapter neck 2 internally threaded at 4 to engage an externally-threaded container neck. Cap 14 is made of material such as plastic, metal or wood which is sufficiently elastic to permit bead 16 on cap 14 to be snapped over bead 8 on neck 2, after which the cap cannot, without forcing, be removed. The upper part of neck 2 is formed with a closure plug portion 10 supported by legs 12. Rotary movement of cap 14 causes plug 10 to open or close a discharge aperture 18 in neck 2. Neck 2 instead of being a separate adapter member, may be formed as part of a container, such as a collapsable tube. The interlocking beads may be formed below the threaded portions of the cap and neck instead of above as shown.
