[Classes 20(ii) and 20(iv)] Pitched roofs with cast-on roof coverings are erected by casting the covering on deck shuttering while leaving apertures in the roof for the extraction of the shuttering, lowering the shuttering to part it from the covering, and withdrawing the shuttering through the apertures. The rafter members 4 are moulded in shuttering of the kind described in Specifications 624,606, 624,607 and 624,608 with cores to form the gaps 41 with mouth 47 and recesses 45, and 46 joined by the upwardly sloping base 49. The depth of the gap at the recess 45 is equal to the diameter of the bars 43 plus the thickness of shuttering 44, and at the recess 46 is greater. Bars 43 are seated in the recesses 45 of a horizontal series of gaps 41, and deck shuttering 44 fitting neatly between the members 4 is laid on the bars, with covers 50 to prevent concrete entering the gaps 41. Concrete is cast over the shuttering and the upper edges 5 of the members 4. The bars 43 are rolled to the recesses 46 when the covering has set, allowing the shuttering to be prised loose and removed from below the eaves portion of the covering 6. The ceiling slab may form an eaves soffit 51, in which case the shuttering is removed through an aperture 52 at the ridge, which is then sealed by the capping 53. The rods 43 are removed endwise.
