[Class 51 (i)] The frusto-conical walls 31, 32, Fig. 2, of the annular combustion chamber of a gas turbine plant are formed with diagonal fluted ribs 41 of U-shaped cross-section as shown in Fig. 3. The ribs in one wall may be inclined oppositely to those in the other wall. The ribs reinforce the walls and provide for expansion in both radial and longitudinal directions.
