Abstract
622,842. Endless-belt conveyers. M. & C. SWITCHGEAR, Ltd., and MORRISON, R. Oct. 8, 1946, No. 29979. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVII] A conveyer in which a circuit controls the starting and stopping of the driving means and a speed switch is operated by the conveyer to be closed only when the speed is above a predetermined amount has a relay coil in the circuit and also in parallel with the speed switch and contacts which are opened by energisation of the coil, but which, when closed, short circuit the speed switch and a time lag device controlling the opening of the contacts for sufficient time to enable the speeding up of the conveyer to close the speed switch whereby also when the conveyer is caused to slow down the speed switch opens and breaks the control circuit stopping the conveyer. As shown in Fig. 1 the delivery conveyer K has a speed switch D and a driving motor G, controlled by a circuit including the normally closed contacts C<SP>1</SP> of a relay C. The circuit is connected to the mains through the coil of a relay B and a speed switch A of a receiving conveyer M and a current overtrip V. The coil of the relay C is in parallel with the coil of 'relay B, and the normally open contacts B<SP>1</SP> of relay B in series with contactor coil J are in parallel with the motor control circuit. In operation, the receiving conveyer M is driven to working speed the switch A closes and the coils are energised opening contacts C<SP>1</SP> and closing contacts B<SP>1</SP> thus starting the delivery conveyer K. A time lag on contacts C<SP>1</SP> enables the starting of the motor before the speed switch D is short circuited. If the receiving conveyer M is stopped the speed switch is opened and the relays are de-energised. The contacts B<SP>1</SP> open and the conveyer M is stopped. The contacts C<SP>1</SP> close to permit sequence restart. A manual switch F can eliminate sequence control. Any number of tributory conveyers feeding in parallel onto a common receiving conveyer may be sequenced in a similar manner. If the belt of conveyer K should break and the speed decreases, the speed switch D opens and the coils are de-energised. The contacts B<SP>1</SP> open and the conveyer stops. The contacts C<SP>1</SP> are maintained open by a latch connecting the two and can only be manually reengaged to permit normal working.
