Abstract

622,815. Locking nuts. TUERCA VICTORIA SOC. ANON. Dec. 1, 1944, No. 24003. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1943. [Class 89 (i)] Nuts are locked by curved wedges that fit eccentric recesses in the nut and are formed to engage the bolt thread but with clearance at the crest and nut. An eccentric counterbore 3, Fig. 1, on the nut receives a split ring 7, Fig. 5, eccentrically formed at 8, shaped at 9 to fit the thread and having a projection 6a to assist in unlocking. A single recess may be used with an arcuate segmental wedge and this may engage more than one thread. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a further form in which the eccentric surface is provided by ribs 23, Fig. 11 (Cancelled). This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
