621,533. Endless belt conveyers. HORICA, M. Jan. 21, 1947, No. 1938. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1946. [Class 78 (i)] In a device for turning over ceramic tiles and the like flat articles at the point where they are transferred from one conveyer belt to another, the turning over is carried out after the entry of the tile into a rotatable bridge consisting of a driven roller 1, Fig. 1, a pressure roller 2 and a number of supporting rollers 3, 4, 5 and 6, the reversal being effected by reversing the direction of rotation of the roller 1 under an impulse imparted by the passing tile or article which has to be reversed. The roller 1 is driven by a gear 7, Fig. 3, meshing with an axially movable gear 8 which is spring pressed against one wall of the bridge, the gear 8 being driven by a shaft 11 carrying a pair of discs 15, 16, Fig. 2, which may be alternately engaged by a disc 17, which constantly rotates in one direction. Reversal of the direction of rotation of the shaft 11 reverses the direction of rotation of the. roller 1 and also due to the frictional engagement of the gear 8 with the bridge wall the whole bridge is rotated through 180‹ until a projection 9 thereon strikes an abutment stop 10 or 12 so reversing the tile face to face and projecting it on to the conveyer A. Engagement of the disc 17 with either of the discs 15, 16 is controlled by a counter 13 which is operated by engagement of the passing tile with a pivoted roller 14, and since each tile that is turned contacts the, roller 14 twice in its passage between the conveyers, the counter 13 is arranged so that when it is required to reverse every tile it only sends out a reversing impulse after every other contact. If required the counter 13 may also be set so that every nth tile is reversed, in which case the reversing impulse is sent out after every (n + 1)th contact.
