Abstract
620,628. Altering physical structure. BUDD CO. Jan. 24, 1947, No. 2214. Convention date, Jan. 25, 1946. [Class 83 (iv)] Angular bending.-To prevent the formation of stretcher strains in sheets subjected to intensive cold working by breaker roll and roller leveller, the sheet is subjected to gentle back- and-forth bending prior to passing to the breaker roll. Before passing to a breaker roll 12 and roller leveller 14 the sheet is bent by a reversed roller leveller 10 in which the curvature of the rolls gradually increases up to the breaker roll. In order to allow of the initial movement of the roll 12, the rolls 10 are rotated through ratchet gearing from an electromotor. Specfications 240,256 and 252,738, [both in Class 83 (iv)], are referred to.
