Abstract
620,596. Liquid-fuel burners. MEIER, J. July 24, 1946, No. 22107. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1945. [Classes 75(i) and 75(iii)] In a liquid-fuel burner having a rotary cup with an out-turned rim a stream of air, additional to the streams of air passing through and over the rotary cup, is delivered into the combustion chamber through ports lying outside the rotary cup and impinges against a stationary radially directed wall so that it is directed radially outward towards the wall of the combustion chamber. A fan 3 mounted on the shaft 2 of the rotary cup 4 forces air along the inside of the cup and also through an annular gap 10 surrounding the cup. A further stream of air from the fan is forced through holes 11, 12 arranged in circles around the shaft 2 and is directed radially towards the wall 8 of the combustion chamber by impinging on a stationary radial wall 8a. Liquid-fuel from a pump 5 is delivered into the cup through the open end of a pipe 6. The fan, fuel pump and rotary cup are driven by an electric motor 1. The burner is ignited by an electric sparking device 30. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the outer face of the rotary cup is stepped and also describes a construction in which two ignition devices are arranged on a common ring plate which functions in the same way as the stationary radial wall 8a. This ring plate may rest on springs to allow of its displacement. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
