[Class 84] The pulsator of a milking-machine comprises a piston 58 reciprocated in a cylinder to connect two sets of teat-cup surrounds alternately to suction and air pressure and to open and close ducts so that at either end of its stroke one piston-end is subjected to constant pressure intermediate between atmospheric pressure and full suction, whilst the pressure at the other end falls steadily from atmospheric until the piston starts to move, whereupon a duct 53 is opened and the pressure on the piston increases and accelerates its stroke. The air inlet is through openings 48 and a filter disc 47 ; compartments 44, 45 are connected alternately therewith, and with the piston ends through the ducts 53. which have frequency-adjusting screws 54.
