[Class 37] Relates to system for analysing the component frequencies of a complex oscillation by mixing it at 2 with an adjustable frequency from 3 and isolating a constant beat frequency at 4 for measurement at 5 and consists in the provision of a low-pass filter 1 before the mixing circuit 2, so as to avoid the filter 4 passing beats produced by harmonics of the oscillator 3. Where the filter 4 isolates the difference frequency, the cut-off of filter 1 is preferably the beat frequency to which filter 4 is tuned. Where the filter 4 isolates the sum frequency, the cut-off of filter 1 is preferably one third of the frequency to which filter 4 is tuned.
