Abstract
618,474. Cable sleeves; couplings; condensers. COMPAGNIE GENERALE D'ELECTRICITE. Aug. 23, 1946, No. 25264. Convention date, March 6, 1942. [Classes 36, 37 and 38 (i)] End sleeves of the condenser type for electric cables are made by winding insulating bands 2 around the central conductor 1 with interposition of metal layers 3, each insulating layer, at least in the centre, being formed of narrow bands wound in cylindrical helices. The drying and impregnating of the condenser 5, Fig. 2, is carried out in a metal sleeve 6 provided with a heating device 12. The sleeve is heated to about 120‹ C. and evacuated by means of a pump connected to a nozzle 10, oil being removed through nozzle 11 or 13. When dry, oil is introduced through nozzle 11 or 13, the vacuum being maintained during the operation. When thoroughly impregnated, the condenser is mounted in an insulator and further drying and impregnating may take place without heat.
