Abstract
A moulding composition comprises a phenolaldehyde thermosetting resin and synthetic polyamide fibres less than six inches in length. The fibres may be in the form of threads, knitted, woven or belted fabric, string or monofils. The composition may also comprise known catalysts, dyes, pigments, mould lubricants or fillers. The preferred polyamides are polyhexamethylene adipamide and sebacamide. In examples, compositions consist of a novolak, hexamethylenetetramine, magnesium oxide, stearic acid, the colouring-matter known under the Registered Trade Mark "Nigrosin" and either polyhexamethylene adipamide filaments .02 inch diameter, 1/2 -1 inch long or 1/4 inch dicings of "Nylon" fabric.
