Abstract

549,822. Polyamides. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I. April 7, 1941, No. 4600. Convention date, April 6, 1940. Drawings to Specification. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Group VIII] Sheer hosiery &c. is knitted wholly or partly from synthetic linear polyamide monofils preferably drawn from 150-500 per cent. The monofils have a denier of between 5 and 30, a tenacity of at least 2 grams per denier, a modulus of elasticity not exceeding 0,6 and a Tenacity/Modulus of Elasticity factor of at least 6. Material obtainable from polyhexamethylene adipamide, polydecamethylene sebacamide and other filament forming material such as amino-caproic acid polymer can be used according to the invention. Several monofils may be knitted together, in parallel, without twisting. Specifications 461,236, 461,237, 524,953 and 545,940 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also monofils prepared from synthetic linear polyesters, polyethers, polyacetals and vinyl polymers, interpolymers of vinyl chloride and vinyl acetate and inter polymers of unsymmetrical dichlorethylene, e.g. with vinyl esters, acrylic and methacrylic acid esters and styrene. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
