Abstract
617,573. Wheelbarrows. POPPLEWELL, R. A. Oct. 7, 1946, No. 29913. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1945. [Class 108 (i)] A wheelbarrow which has a removable body and which can be vibrated when tipping comprises a continuous length of channel iron 6 with wooden handles 7, a wheel 22 and sheet iron legs 24 braced together by a V-shaped stay, the apex of which is attached to a sheet iron plate 10 extending across the channels 6. A plate 30 at the apex of the frame form as foot when tipping and is perforated for slinging purposes. A body 11 is provided along each side with angles 12, the forward end on each side being slotted to take over a peg 14 projecting from the side of the frame and which forms the pivot when tipping the body, the rear upper flange of angles 12 being slotted to receive the T-head of a bolt 17, Fig. 3, projecting through angled holes 16 in the side frames 6. The rear corner of upper flange 12 is upturned to retain the head 18, and the shank of the bolt 17 may be surrounded by a spring 19 or may be fixed. The body 11 may be removed from the frame and replaced by an upstanding plate 32, Fig. 4, hooked over the pegs 14 when solid objects are to be carried. The legs 24 may be provided with castors 26 adjustable in holes 27, 28.
