616,981. Making levers. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Feb. 20, 1946, No. 5267. Convention date. March 16, 1945. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] A control pedal lever for motor vehicles comprises a main arm 11 to which the usual foot-pad is fitted at 13, and a secondary arm 17 to which an actuating rod is secured at 19. Both arms are formed of sheet metal with their ends 20 and 22 bent over as shown and welded together to form a boss for a pivot bush 12, 18. In a method of making the lever, spaced holes 25, 26, Fig. 5, for the pivot bushes are first drilled in flat stampings, the ends 20 and 22 are given a set of 90 degrees and then welded together in the desired relationship with one pair of holes 25, 26 aligned, a further 90 degrees bend is then given to the arms 11 and 17 to bring the other pair of holes 25, 26 into alignment and a further welding operation carried out. The hole 25, 26 is then reamed and the bushes 12, 18 pressed in.
