Abstract
616,427. Surgical flushing-apparatus. RAAGAARD, O. V. Oct. 9, 1945. No. 26264. Convention date, Jan. 16, 1942. [Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XVIII] Apparatus for automatic, periodic flushing of body cavities, especially the bladder, comprises a receptacle 18 with an inlet 26 for liquid from container 28, and an outlet 30, said receptacle being disposed on balance 10 provided with an adjustable counter-weight 20, and by the turning of which, the inlet and outlet tubes 26, 30 are opened and closed. As shown the parts 42 of the tubes passing under the beam of the balance are of flexible rubber, and are capable of being closed by the pressure of ribs 52 on the beam, and fixed ribs 44. The outlet tube 30 connects with a Y-branch member 32, the central branch of which is connected with a catheter, and the other branch to a drainage tube 36 adapted to be opened and closed simultaneously with the opening and closing of the receptaclefilling tube 26. The centre of gravity of the loaded balance is disposed above the pivot 14 by the provision of a weight 24 on vertical arm 22 whereby the movement of the balance is sudden. Reference is also made to the operation of the opening and closing of the tubes by a powered relay controlled by the balance.
