Abstract

615,990. Firebridges. RANKIN & BLACKMORE, Ltd., and FERRIER, H. April 4, 1946, No. 10384. [Class 51 (i)] In a firebridge for boiler furnaces, which is built up of curved bars arranged side by side so that air spaces are formed between adjacent bars, the bars 10 are provided with laterally projecting flanges 20, 21, 22 forming front and rear compartments supplied with air through openings 27, 28 in a support 11. Interlocking projections between adjacent bars provide openings 26 for the front chamber and openings 31 and other narrow slots, Fig. 2 (not shown) above the rear chamber. Special interlocking bars, Fig. 3 (not shown) are interposed between the bars 10 and a shield 36 protects the rear of the bridge.
