Abstract
615,666. Transfers. SOC. DES PROCEDES SERGE BEAUNE. April 12, 1946, No. 11346. Convention date, June 15, 1944. [Class 100(ii)] [Also in Group XV] A method for the application of an authenticating seal to documents or other appropriate articles consists in imprinting a seal marking of thick ink on the inner face of an adhesive transparent film which is then applied by transfer to the article in such a way that the marking is sealed between the article and the film so as to prevent falsification. The seal marking is printed with monochrome thick ink or by polychrome printing processes on the gelatined side of a transfer paper provided with a layer of about 12 per cent concentrated gum arabic, the gelatine being of about 10 per cent concentration. The transfer is dipped into 6 per cent acetic acid and applied with the gelatined side against the document, the marking thus being under the gelatine film. Adhesion is perfected by a rubber roller, and the gummed paper removed by softening with cold water and lifting off with its paper support. The film R is applied to a photograph P and mounting S. The characters on the seal are translucent. The film may be colour printed, as by the process described in Specification 610,943. The films R may have sinuous or broken edges, and may be coloured. The transfer paper may have perforations provided, and may have a marginal edge without gum or gelatine to facilitate the transfer. An outer seal may also be placed partly on the film and partly on the free part of the document.
