Abstract
615,352. Feeding sound films. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. June 17, 1946, No. 18153. Convention date, July 4, 1945. [Class 97 (i)] A sprocket 8 feeds the film 20 to and from a recording drum 11, resiliently mounted idler rollers 23, 24 bear on the inside of one film portion between the sprocket and roller and on the outside of the other film portion respectively, and the'drum has a magnetic drive. A motor drives a gear 16 and, through other gears 15, 14, 9, the drum and the sprocket. The magnetic drive to the drum from the gear 14 is as described in Specification 316,320, [Class 97 (i)]. The rollers 23, 24 are carried on spring- urged arms 42, 65, the former being axially adjustable on its pivot. Members 47, 63 on the base-plate have bent-up ends to limit the movement of the roller arms. A device 35 projects images of indicia, set at 38, through a lens 39 on to the film for identification purposes. A film punch is operated by a solenoid 34. A footage indicator is provided at 31. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a modification in which the idler rollers are replaced by a single sprocket spring-urged away from the drum and engaging the film passing to and from the drum. In a further modification, two sprockets, geared together, engage these two film portions and one is mounted on an arm pivoted at the axis of the other and spring-urged away from the drum. In these modifications, the drum is film driven. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
