Abstract
614,711. Erecting preformed cavity walls. MALTHOUSE. E. G. July 22, 1946, No. 21763. [Class 20(ii)] Cavity walls built of pre-formed leaves composed of monolithic concrete or bricks grouted with cement are erected by first finally positioning one leaf, placing the other leaf in approximately final position and then placing over the leaves a bridge member comprising a bar 10 with lugs or stops 11, 12 to limit the adjustment of the movable leaf as it is finally positioned by a wedge 20 driven into the cavity between the leaves, through a slot 19 in the bar 10. The bar may have additional lugs 13, 14 on the reverse side, to give a different spacing, e.g. for non- rendered walls. Certain of the lugs may be adjustable along the bar. Two bars spaced apart may be coupled together to from a single bridge member. The wedge 20 is loosely coupled by a chain to the bridge member.
