[Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vi)] The invention relates to the means at radio repeater stations for converting the received frequency fc into a frequency fc+f1 for retransmission, and particularly to the type of which Fig. 2 is an example, in which fc is first mixed with a frequency fo to produce an intermediate frequency of fo -fc which after amplification at 3 is further mixed with a " shift " frequency f to produce a second intermediate frequency of fc -fo + f which is amplified at 6 and mixed with fo to produce the final frequency fc+f1 for retransmission. According to the invention, rejection of the unwanted products of the mixing is simplified by using an arrangement of which Fig. 4 is an example. Mixer 1 combines the signal fc with a frequency of fo+nf obtained from mixer 8 to produce an intermediate frequency of fo - fc+nf1, which after amplification is mixed with a frequency of mf (where (m - n)=1) to produce a second I.F. of (m-n)f1 - fo+fc. After further amplification, this frequency is mixed with fo to produce the final frequency fc+(m - n) f1. The frequencies mf, nf may be adjacent harmonics of a common oscillator. The application of the invention to a system handling two signals is described in Specification 613,854.
