Abstract

1324679 Frequency changing circuits; radio signalling SIEMENS AG 5 July 1972 [13 Aug 1971] 31369/72 Headings H3T and H4L In a V.H.F. radio receiving arrangement which includes one or more frequency converters each tuned to the frequency of a radio signal, which frequency converter converts the received signal to an intermediate frequency in a first mixer stage 6 and subsequently converts it from the intermediate frequency, in a second mixer stage 11, to either the original frequency or that of another V.H.F. channel, the local oscillation source 12 for the second mixer stage 11 comprises an amplifier which acts as a buffer stage connected to the oscillator 7 of the first mixer stage 6, when conversion is made to the original frequency, or alternatively as an independent oscillator for conversion to the frequency of a different channel. In the embodiment the signal input, derived either from terminal 2, or via switch 5 from a directional coupler is amplified in an R.F. amplifier 1 comprising a field-effect transistor; the mixer 6 also comprises a fieldeffect transistor. An I.F. amplifier 10 giving symmetrical limiting is employed, preceded and followed by ceramic or crystal filters 8, 9. The second mixer 11 comprises a ring modulator.
