Abstract

1,046,923. Radio signalling. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON. Feb. 10, 1964 [Feb. 8, 1963], No. 5449/64, Heading H4L. In an apparatus for jamming radio signals a panoramic receiver 2 including a frequencyswept oscillator 5 scans the required frequency band, any received signal, up to a maximum number as determined by a counter (not shown) operating on the A.G.C. circuit, producing an output from mixer 3 which is supplied to a control circuit 4. The device 4 stops the oscillator 5 for a short period, de-sensitizes the receiver 2 and operates the transmitter 6 to which the output of the oscillator 5 is fed after frequency conversion, whereby the appropriate jamming signal consisting of a noise-modulated carrier wave is transmitted from aerial 7. Certain carrier frequencies within the band may be excluded from jamming as by arranging that the receiver is de-sensitized at these frequencies. The scanning frequency may be fixed or variable. The effect of varying the scanning frequency and/or the duration of jamming in each cycle is discussed.
