Abstract

613,641. Bobbins. ASTELL, L. F., and HERRBURGER BROOKS, Ltd. June 24. 1946, No. 18841. [Class 120(iii)] In a bobbin comprising two parts (a flange and hollow shank, and a flange) moulded in synthetic resin and screwed together, the separate flange 3 is recessed at 6 to receive the end of the shank 2, the recess 6 having a threaded wall 8, and a plain wall 9 engaged by a plain wall 10 on the shank, the end of which seats on the bottom 11 of the recess. The outer wall of recess 6 may be threaded, instead of the inner wall as shown, the inner wall then being plain. The two parts may be screwed together after shank 2 has cooled but before flange 3 has cooled, to ensure a shrink fit. Adhesive may be applied to the inter-engaging surfaces.
