613,627. Condensers. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and ANDERSON, L. E. June 20, 1946, No. 18627. Convention date, June 22, 1945. [Class 37] An electric condenser unit comprises upper and lower fluid reservoirs 12 and 15 between which a plurality of condensers 18, each wound on a conduit 19, are arranged in such a manner that cooling fluid can pass between the reservoirs through the said conduits. Glass tubes 30, also connecting the reservoirs 12 and 15, are spaced between the condenser units to assist in the cooling of their exterior surfaces. The complete unit is housed in a metallic casing 1 filled with an insulating oil and provided with high current terminal bushes 3 and 4. The condensers 18 comprise two layers of a dielectric material, preferably polystyrene ribbon, wound with layers of metal foil about the conduits 19 so that one edge of each strip of metal, foil projects beyond opposite edges of the dielectric material, metal cup-shaped discs 23 and 24 being located at the ends of the rolled condensers for making electrical connections. If the conduits are electrically conductive, an insulating bush is provided between the conduit and one end disc of each condenser.
