Abstract
613,435. Chimneys; casting in situ. FAYE, L. P. Nov. 21, 1945, No. 31358. Convention date, April 5, [Classes 20(ii) and 25] Chimney and like structures composed of superposed prefabricated concrete elements and of concrete cast in situ between these elements are characterized in that the elements are arranged in vertical rows spaced apart along the periphery of the chimney and that each element is constituted by two vertical walls connected by integral cross pieces of small cross section along a lateral edge of these walls. The structure may be polygonal, comprising vertical rows of elements 2 at the apices connected by parallel panels 5 and 6 with reinforcing rods 3 and 4, each element 2 comprising parallel faces a and b united by cross pieces c, preferably arranged so that the cross pieces on adjacent elements are on opposite sides, concrete being cast into the structure so formed. The panels may be held in position by clamps and internal projections or some of the elements 2 may be used to support lagging elements which may be spaced from the chimney. In a modified element, the inner wall is a dihedron and the outer wall has three faces, each extreme face being parallel to a face of the dihedron.
